A Night with Old Friends

Monday, December 28, 2009 - Our friends Andy & Jill invited us to their new house along with the Birchler family for dinner. It was a fun night of reliving old times. It was interesting to me as I sat and watched all of our children play together, I kept thinking to myself how quickly time flies! It seemed like not that long ago we were all spending every weekend together either at someone's house, apartment or hanging out at a bar together. It was so good to get together with all of them!

Hannah kept asking to see the dog. I know Hannah loves dogs, but she'd never seen a dog this big. Susie is a Saint Bernard. I wasn't sure what she'd think. Well, just look at her face when she met her. I do have to say......she LOVED her!

The dog is almost as big as Hannah!

Broeker Christmas

Saturday, December 26, 2009 - The Broeker side of the family always has their Christmas the Saturday after Christmas. There are so many of us that we go to the YMI in Huntingburg. Because the Saturday after fell the day after this year there were a few families that weren't able to be with us. It's always so much fun when all of us get together. We had great food, great gifts and great company!! Kyle showing off his present from Great Grandma Broeker. Grandma Broeker is such an amazing woman.....she has sooooo many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she handmakes everyone's gifts each year. This year Kyle & Hannah got handmade Christmas ornaments and suckers from her.

she opened that sucker right away

We also got a handmade ornament and an embroderied cloth that has our wedding date on it.

The children all got quilted table runners as one of their gifts
Grandma opening her gifts from all of the grandkids. We all always go in together and buy her something. A different grandchild is in charge each year. This year we got her gift certificates and a flat screen tv.

She was so shocked when the tables were turned and she got a handmade quilt from everyone this year. This summer each family member was given a quilt square to decorate. Each of Grandma's childrens' families were given the same color. Our family had three squares to decorate for the quilt. Ben and I had a square and Kyle and Hannah each had one. The quilt turned out absolutely AMAZING!! What a treausure I'm sure it will be to her.

Our squares are the top three green squares going down. First is Ben & I's square, then Kyle's, then Hannah's. The smile on Grandma's face says it all!

Hannah & Kylie playing. These two only see each other a couple times a year, but they were absolutely inseperable this day. They are just a little over a week apart in age and they get along so well.

We didn't have the Annual Broeker Open Golf Scramble this year because of Mike's illness. So, we had a putting scramble at Christmas. It was a lot of fun! We got into teams of 4 and putt into a Tic-Tac-Putt board. The teams with the highest points advanced. Here's Mike putting.

The trophies for the Broeker Open Golf Scramble had already been made, so they were used for the winning team of the Putting Tournament.

Christmas Night

We headed to Dale to Ben's Aunt Paula & Uncle Paul's house for dinner. We always have a big, traditional Christmas dinner there with plenty of choices of yummy desserts. We also have a gift exchange. For the gift exchange we always trade names in November and then buy a $7.00 gift. It's always the highlight of the evening as it is fun watching each person unwrap their gift.

Hannah got her eye poked. Great Aunt Paula knew just what to do to make it feel all better.

Hannah just loves her Great Aunt Paula....she could usually be found somewhere near her.

Kyle played Santa again this year and passed out everyone's gifts to them

of course, more LEGOS

Hannah bought Aryn Elmo slippers. Here's Hannah trying to put them on her...too cute!

Mark had Hannah's name. He bought her Barbie clothes. She thanked him with a hug.
