Pumpkin Carving

This Halloween was rainy and yucky with storms in the forecast.  The kids didn’t even have a desire to put their costumes on and go trick-or-treating.  I think they got their fill at the Trunk or Treat.  They’d been wanting to carve pumpkins for quite some time now, so that’s what we stayed home and did.  Rich and Joan also stopped by to give the kids their Halloween treats, and to surprise them with blankets that their Great Grandma Broeker had made for them.  How very special for them to have these!!!

Beware of PIRATES

Trunk or Treat

Today was our school/parish first ever Trunk or Treat.  I had signed up weeks ago that we would decorate our trunk, but had just had time to throw together an idea the day before.  Surprisingly, it all came together and we even won 1st place.  We won a free tire rotation and a free oil change.  The kids had lots of fun decorating pumpkins and trunk or treating.  We went with a Pirate theme for our trunk.  Hannah had already decided she was going to be a pirate for Halloween, so we went with that.  Kyle threw together a pirate costume from the costumes he had at home (he also won for scariest costume), I borrowed my friend, Renee’s pirate costume, we decorated our trunk with things we found around our house and in my nephews play room.  Kyle drew the Beware of Pirates sign, and they both colored it.

Field Day

Today was Boy Scout Field Day.  Hannah and I dropped Kyle off and then had to go run a few errands.  When we went back to pick him up, Hannah joined him for the session they were in and then we had to leave to get to a birthday party.  I believe they had FUN!

Newburgh’s Ghost Walks

Tonight we got tickets and went to Newburgh’s Ghost Walk.  I’ve lived in Newburgh for about 12 years now, and I’ve always wanted to go.  In the past we’ve driven by and seen them happening and every year I say I want to go.  Well, this year I told Ben we were going.  He went during the day and got us tickets.  It was really interesting, and we’re looking forward to going on the other tour next October. (There’s 2 different tours)

Nut Club Fall Festival

Today the four of us headed down to the Nut Club Fall Festival.  Yesterday I chaired the booth from about 3:00 to closing.  After going back to school to wash the dishes, it was past 1:00 in the morning before I got home.  I was exhausted!  We were off school today, so we headed down around lunch time.  IMG_4478IMG_4494IMG_4503

Kyle’s New Glasses

I recently took Kyle to get his eyes checked.  He got them checked last summer and Dr. Wood just put him on observation, meaning he could’ve gotten glasses then, but it wasn’t entirely necessary.  This time, it was felt that Kyle could benefit to have glasses to wear when reading, watching tv and in the classroom.  Kyle wasn’t too sure about the idea at first, but once he tried them on and picked them out…he was ok.  I think he looks handsome in them.
