Saturday, February 18th - What a day this was!! It started with Hannah waking up in the middle of the night Friday night screaming with ear pain. She got in bed with us, and I first got her a heating pad to lay her ear on. Next, it was Tylenol to try and help. Nothing was working! Then, I remembered I had some pain drops left from Kyle's (worst ear infection of his life) about a month prior. I got those out, and that allowed us some sleep. She was crying again in just a matter of a couple of hours, though. Poor baby, I don't think there's anything worse than watching your baby in pain with ear infection. Partly because I remember what that pain is like. I had really bad ear infections as a child, so I sympathize deeply. The next morning was not any better, I was able to get her in to see the doctor at the after hours at 10:20. Sure enough, it was an ear infection, and the Dr. was shocked that the first pain she had experienced was the night prior, because her ear was infected so badly. The doctor said she couldn't even imagin the pain Hannah was having. So, we were off to the pharmacy to get her a stronger than usual dose of antibiotics. I also gave her some more Tylenol and pain drops. The killer part came when I told her that we'd just go home and rest instead of going to Livia's birthday party at Pump it Up! Oh - the tears started flowing! She said her ear was feeling better by this time, and could we pleeeaaase just go for a little while. She promised me that if her ear started hurting that we would leave. I agreed to her plea, after all, I knew she wasn't contagious. After getting her antibiotic my only thought was getting it into her system. The thought did not cross my mind that it was a really strong antibiotic and you need to take it with food!!! The party started fine. Hannah jumped and played with her friends and had a blast! You'd never know that a few hours earlier she had been crying in pain. Then it happened, we were leaving the jump room to go to the birthday room to eat. Hannah's walking down the hall, and says, "Mommy, I don't feel good!" Then, out it came....she threw up. Not a lot, just her medicine. I got her to the bathroom. She seemed fine and wanted to go eat. So, she sat down to eat. A few minutes pass and I look at her - she has that look again. I immediately pull her off the chair and start running for the bathroom. This time, she threw up again on the way to the bathroom. Once again, just medicine. By this time, we were both like, "Okay, let's go home." Hannah even agreed it was time! When I get out I start reading the medicine papers. It says likely side effects: nausea, vomiting and diahrea and take with food! Fortunately, this was the only bad experience with the medicine. Everytime after that she took the medicine with some food and was fine. Lesson learned! As of today (February 28th), she just finished her last dose of medicine and is doing MUCH better! Here's a few pictures of the happy part of the party.
