The Dog

Well, becoming owners of a dog has been an ongoing saga in the Broeker household. The kids and I want a dog really bad and Ben is just refusing. I found this dog at a shelter in KY tonight online. Kyle, Hannah and myself just fell in love with it. I have a call into the shelter to see if it is still available.....hoping Ben changes his mind!

I'll post more pictures soon!

Movie Night

August 21, 2009 - Kyle has been wanting to have movie night with Jason, Natalie & Christian for months now. We used to have movie night all of the time before we had kids. (Natalie has a nice description of this on her blog if you click here). Kyle over heard us talking about it one day and has been beggin ever since. He also wanted everyone to wear their pajamas to movie night. We watched Race to Witch Mountain complete with popcorn, coke and candy! We'll definitely have to do this again soon. Check out Christian sneaking over to get some of Kyle's popcorn. He loves popcorn!

All of us

Thanks to Natalie for letting me steal all of these pictures off her blog. I was in such a hurry to get there because we were running late that I forgot to take my camera. Fortunately, between the two of us one of us always has a camera on us.

Scrapbooking...well...kind of

August 18, 2009 - The girls and I decided we were all craving a night together to hang out and scrapbook. We hadn't been able to get together for a while. We made dinner and all of us had intentions of getting right to our projects; however, Renee was the only one who ended up doing any scrapbooking. The rest of us just ended up talking and watching the kids play together. It was a fun evening and I can't wait to get together again....maybe, I'll actually accomplish some scrapbooking next time. Renee -- so dedicated to her project!

Keelin and Hannah are so cute together. They have developed quite the friendship and are just adorable to watch together. I can't wait until they start preschool together next year!!

Madelyn & Allyson's Birthday Party

August 16, 2009 - We went to Madelyn & Allyson's birthday party at Mr. Gatti's. Madelyn turned 6 and Allyson turned 3. The girls get to have their birthday party together every year because their birthday are just days apart. I remind Linda every year how lucky she is that she just has to have one party! The girls enjoyed playing ski ball together. They had a tough time getting them to the top, though.

Hannah seems to be really enjoying this purple convertible

Allyson finally got the right idea of how to get the balls to the top

I know I need to update my blog! There's been so much happening lately and I just haven't taken the time to sit down and update this thing. So....updates coming soon (I hope).

Kyle is absolutely loving kindergarten. I am hoping for a great school year myself.

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Kyle's first day of kindergarten. It was such an exciting day for him and it was really hard for me to be sad when I saw how excited he was. I was doing really good until one of my school mother's asked me if I was okay. At that point I felt myself holding back the tears. Then again, when I saw him putting his lunch tray up in the cafeteria for the first time. If I hadn't been headed out to recess duty then I probably would've just stood there, enjoyed the moment a little longer, and cried because my baby is growing up. I am fortunate that I am able to teach at the same school where he attends. I get to see all of those "little firsts" that most people don't (such as the first time he put his lunch tray up by himself). Mommy and Daddy love you so much, Kyle. We are so excited to be starting a new journey with you. All dressed and ready to go. He was dreading the school uniform, but when the time came to put it on he didn't complain a bit.

Showing off his backpack - I wanted to get his name monogrammed on it, but time got away from me. Hopefully, I still can.

Hot Days are for Swimming

Today we decided to enjoy our last official day of summer vacation by going to Ben's parents house for swimming. We took some of the leftover BBQ, chips and corn on the cob for lunch. Kyle doesn't start school until Tuesday, but I'll be spending the entire day in my classroom tomorrow to prepare for Tuesday. Kyle loves the corn on the cob (They shoved the plate full of eaten corn ears in front of him as I was taking the picture). I think he did eat 2 or 3 ears, though.

Hannah loves corn on the cob, too.

They love the pool. Hannah got really brave today...tried to swim without her floaties and kept going underwater.

I was outside working when we got home. Next thing I knew Kyle had loaded up his wagon full of the softdrinks from the garage, grabbed cups of ice and sat himself at the end of the driveway. He said he was setting up a coke stand.
Yes, I paid $.50 for my own coke!

End of Summer Cook-Out

I have been wanting to have a big cook-out all summer long. Saturday night we finally got to have one. It was so good to get all of our friends together. We don't all get to see each other very often. Back in the day......we all hung out every weekend together. All of our lives have moved in different directions now, but we all still have so much fun together when we do get to hang out. It was fun to watch all of our kids playing together now and having the time of their lives playing on the slip-n-slide, bounce house and trampoline. I need to sit down and do a head count because I believe the children definitely outnumbered the adults! I wish I could have gotten a picture of all of the kids together! That would have been a sight corralling all of them! I had such a good time and look forward to the day we can all get together again.

Toward the end of the night when most people had left it was just a few of us "old" friends left. We had so much fun sitting outside and reliving some old times together.

Christian & Hannah were exhausted! They partied way too hard.
Kyle, on the other hand, was wide awake (too much sugar, I'm sure). He was such a big helper and helped carry in things from outside and helped me clean-up.
