Halloween 2012

This year Hannah dressed up as Dorothy and Kyle dressed up as the Crypt Master.  I tried to convince Kyle to be a character from the Wizard of Oz with Hannah, but he wasn't having that.  He wanted to go and pick out something a little more scary.  Hannah convinced me to dress up as the wicked witch of the west from the Oz.  I agreed because I already had the witch costume from a previous Halloween.  I realized when I was getting ready, though, that my witch hat was at school.  I use it for a read-aloud story I have.  Oh well....I said surely she can't wear her hat ALL the time, right?  I guess the Halloween days of dressing them up in matching character costumes ended last year with Mario and Princess Peach.

IceMen Game

October 28 - We headed to the Ford Center with the Elfreich's and the Wilkey's for the IceMen game.  It was Halloween costume night, so the kids dressed in their costumes.  It was our very first hockey game, and I have to admit I enjoyed the company and experience itself more than the game.  I was a little lost as to all the rules, etc. of hockey.  The kids enjoyed it, but about half-way through, Hannah asked how long a hockey game was.  We'll definitely go again, though!

This was one of the Ford Center workders dressed as the house from the wizared of Oz.

Kyle's Field Day

The weekend following Hannah's Girl Scout Field Day, we headed to Kyle's Boy Scout Field Day.  It was held at the Boy Scout building and it's grounds.  This was our 3rd year going to this event.  Kyle always has such a good time, and this year our troop got quite the surprise.  There were over 400 scouts present at the field day, and our boys brought home the Spirit Stick.  The Spirit Stick is awarded to the troop that shows the best sportsmanship, manners, spirit, etc.  This is the first year our troop has EVER won this award.  We were all so happy for them.  What an honor!

Girl Scout Field Day

Hannah and I went to her Girl Scout field day at Angel Mounds.  It was our first field day for the Girl Scouts, and we had a really good time.  Hannah's favorite part was making corn husk dolls and tie-dying.  That was the one station I had to miss because I had an earlier appointment I had to make, and was late.  I arrived just in time to see her playing in the mud to build a mud wall.

Hannah's Zoo Trip

On October 3rd, Hannah's class and the first grade class took a field trip to the zoo. I got to go along on the trip as a teacher/parent. It was so much fun and we couldn't have asked for a better weather day. We visited the zoo, and then headed to Kid's Kingdom for lunch and playtime.
I remember visiting the zoo when I was in kindergarten.  The day of the field trip, after seeing Hannah, I remember I had on a purple jacket the day of my kindergarten zoo trip, also.  I'm going to have to try and find that picture at my parents' house.
